Derby, Indiana to Rockport, Indiana
We shoved off the Derby Landing free dock to head for Owensboro via Cannelton Lock. We had to wait for our turn to lock through Cannelton Lock construction zone with an estimated 2 hour wait time, so we hovered around in front of Rocky Point Marina. Eventually we heard a call from one of the tow captains saying “let’s get that little rec boat out of the way”. With us being the rec boat to took that as our signal to move to the head of the line by squeezing between barges on both sides of the river bank. We tried to go behind Anderson Island at mile 735 but couldn’t clear the sand bar. We went a bit further downriver until we found Mike’s Marina with a couple of folks out on the dock waving us in. Not only did we get a free side-tie for the night but they drove us into town and dropped us off so we could have dinner a local restaurant, McKenzie’s Rockport Inn.
