Eclipse Cruise, Leg 1

Louisville to Mosquito Creek

We passed through McAlpine Locks with a large dose of anxiety since it was our first time doing so. During our planning stages we had two opportunities for a trial lock-thru with those more experienced, but both were cancelled due to weather and high water. It turned out to be not-so-bad and we then focused on our next anxiety… our overnight accomodations. We had planned to anchor in Salt River near Westport, Kentucky but decided to move further downriver and anchor outside the mouth of Mosquito Creek. Dinner was bratwurst with eggplant, peppers, tomatoes and onions stirred. And, of course, Janet’s homemade bread. We watched a Captain Chris “docking” DVD until falling asleep around 2300. Peaceful night at anchor with very little barge traffic. View Photos
