Eagle Island

South Port Marine to Eagle Island

Besides having Sara and Jacob on board, Louise from Hill Top Stables from Louisville joined us. We left the marina mid-morning and headed toward Pumpkin Knob where we spotted a dolphin swimming along on port side. We then rounded the south tip of Lucksee Sound, made Jewell Island, and fetched a mooring at Eagle Island at 1152 hours. While considering our options to get to shore a ranger came out in a dinghy to take us to the landing dock. We toured Admiral Perry’s house and walked the island trails before returning to the boat at 1440 for a late lunch. We then dropped our mooring ball and fired up the diesel. After rounding Chandler’s Cove we went straight for the marina and were tied securely by 1655 hours.
