It’s been a long, long winter and too long to be away from the boat. Since we need to start compiling our spring work list, plus we need to plan on where we’re going to be for the summer, those were enough excuses to jump on a plane and shake out the jitters for a few days.
On the to-do list, mostly being directed towards the marina, were:
– Repair auto pilot hydraulic pump (no function)
– Replace 3 fuel tank senders (no readings)
– Replace 35 gallon holding tank (partially collapsed)
– Repair HVAC system (no heat)
– Repair anemometer (no reading)
That will no doubt run up a tab but considering the old gal is 30 years old, that’s not bad. The prop has already been pulled and is being reconditioned by North Coast Prop Tech and will be used as a spare. Survey indicated that the 22 x 19 was over-pitched so it should come back as a not-so-healthy 22 x 17 since it’s been reconditioned too many times in the past to be trusted. Instead a shiny new 22 x 17 will ride along with the shipment and take its place as our main screw.
Meanwhile, we got into Newington, New Hampshire late last night and spent today exploring Portsmouth on foot. This included walking across the lift-bridge to Kittery, Maine. About half way back across to Portland we got the horn that the bridge was coming up. After a quick shuffling of feet to clear we looked back to see that nothing happened. I suppose it was just something to scare the tourist in us.
